Let's celebrate, it's poppa's birthday!
Happy Birthday poppa! The kids were so excited to celebrate poppa's birthday. To a child, every birthday should be celebrated. We celebrated with a sports themed party, the kids insisted. We even made poppa's favorite jello cake, including sports themed candles (of course Carli was a little weary of the smell). I think poppa had a great day!

my cheerleader!
Carli ... such a cheerleader at heart! Carli loves cheerleading, watches football and basketball to see the cheerleaders, asked for a cheerleader costume for Christmas, she loves cheerleading! She was so happy to have the opportunity to take cheerleading at the local YMCA. This is just her style, nothing serious, no pressure, just an hour of fun and cheerleading!

Valentine's day
Happy Valentines day. This morning the kids woke up to a special treat, ice cream for breakfast ... no boring heart shaped pancakes coming from this house! That was so last year!! As excited as they were about it, none of them actually ate too much. The girls LOVE to get flowers, they were excited with poppa's Valentine's day treat. The girls completed the day with a party in their classrooms.

12 days of Christmas ... so 2 months ago!
the almost sleepover!
Ok, so Lexi begged and begged and begged for a sleepover. I refuse to let her sleepover at a friends house for a number of reasons. Bottom line is that I think she is still a bit too young! So today, Lexi ends up at an impromptu play date planned in the car on the way back from the teddy bear picnic. Of course Lexi's play dates last hours, we eventually pick her and her friend up for dinner. At dinner, I finally agreed to let her friend have a sleepover at our house. So we get home, they play and play, they get ready for bed, go to bed and 5 minutes later we our calling her friends dad to pick her up. Her friend was upset and nervous. Point proven, too young! Maybe she will stop asking now for awhile!!
The next week I found this note in Lexi's Friday folder, guessing Lexi was just a little bit upset.
Lexi's picnic with her learning partners
All of the kindergarten friends are paired with 5th graders. Every Thursday afternoon the are together. Lexi always looks forward to this. They complete projects together, read to each other, and best of all Lexi gets to be the "baby". She loves this and totally eats it up! On this particular day was the teddy bear picnic.
